I picked it out!

One day when it was a really really cold snowy snow storm outside my mom let Eli and me pick out our own clothes! Here is what we both liked best 🙂

An Irish Jig & Chili Cheese Dog

We got to go to the Kennedy Center one night. They have free concerts EVERY night for kids! We got to go when Marmee was in town over Christmas. They had Irish music and dancers performing. I got to sit on my dad’s shoulders to see because there were so many people, so he let ME take pictures!

After the cool Irish Jig we went to eat dinner at Ben’s Chili Bowl. It’s famous. Bill Cosby is like the #1 fan. President Obama goes there a lot too. We were sitting in the back and eating our chili cheese dogs and my mom saw someone they knew so they started talking. It was a pastor from one a church here. So I started talking to the guy that was with him. I gave him a high five and Eli tried to feed him some fries. He sat down at our table and laughed at us. 🙂 I’m think his name was something like Sinbad Badguy, that’s a cool name!

At the Zoo!

When we got to start school again after Christmas Eli got to be in my class now! I really like having Eli in my school. I’m a really good brother and help him listen to the teacher, Mrs. Mary Beth (Eli calls her Mrs. Mary Bleth). Eli loves her. I love school too. I love everyone there. My favorite thing to do in school is go to the play ground, Eli’s favorite is play ground and snack time. We have to walk a couple blocks though Capitol Hill to get to the play ground. We even cross the street! We have to hold two long big ropes all together on each side of us to keep us all safe. It’s neat going to school in the basement of the coffee shop in a big city where we go to church at! Here are some pictures from the first day of school for Eli!

My dad says when we go to school it’s like watching a bunch of kids, as if they were in a zoo, “roaming around and playing in their environment”.

Speaking of Zoo… the National Zoo here in DC is sooooooooooo cOol! It’s free to go to, so we go every couple of weeks. They have so many animals, my favorite are the Panda’s, Monkeys (especially the ones that climb over my head! but not the gorillas that barf in front of me and then eat it!), tigers, lions, and elephants!

Here are some pictures of us at the Zoo, and when the Orangutans climbed over our heads, they can freely do that all over the zoo!!

New York, New York!

I remember going to New York City right when it turned 2010 and visiting Toys R Us and had fun going on the spinning wheel, and I got so lucky and got Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the Aliens car!

I remember seeing Shelby and Tanner, and staying in their tiny house. It was cold outside, and we brought Porter and had to take him out to go potty. I remember the super tall buildings, and lots of lights, and I really liked them. We bought yummy cupcakes and we ate them at Aunt Shelby’s. Eli and me got to run and slide on a SUPER giant piano on the floor in a toy store! That was CoOl!

I like New York! But the Metro in Washington, DC is better. It’s cleaner and easier to ride a stroller on than New York’s Subways.  I can’t wait to go back!

Jingle Bells, Tingle Tells

I LOVE Christmas! Even though Christmas was a few months ago, Eli and me still sing Jingle Bells ALL the time, and I sing it funny sometimes too. We like to read our Night Before Christmas book a lot still. 🙂

I learned alot about why we have Christmas- because Jesus was born! My favorite part of the Christmas story is the 3 wise men coming to visit Baby Jesus because a star showed them where to go. That is so really cool. God is SO big, even bigger than the stars and the sky!

We had so much fun on Christmas morning! I am so happy Marmee and Doge and Uncle Matt were here. We had a lot of presents to open, and we started some family “traditions” this year! We had to GIVE our presents, so I put all the presents FROM me in my pile, and handed them out to everyone, and so did everyone else, so we learn to be more excited about what we give, than how many presents we get. We also made a birthday cake for Jesus and sang happy birthday to Him and blew out his candles (I really liked that part!).

Here are some pictures from Christmas 2009!

Then we got to go make a Snow Dinosaur and that night Eli and I sang Jingle Bells and Away in a Manger to our family (I learned that at school, and got to sing on stage for that too, and meet Santa!)

Cap-P-Pol!

Every time we drive around Washington DC we can see the Capitol and Washington Monument. Eli and me love to yell the names of the monuments whenever we see them. Eli calls the Capitol “Cap-P-Pol!” That makes me laugh every time. My favorite monuments are the Lincoln Monument, because one of my mom and dad’s friends told me Abraham Lincoln’s thumb moves, so I always want to go see that, and I like the Jefferson Monument too.

Here are some pictures of them. Some of them are from when Marmee and Doge, and Uncle Matt came to visit for Christmas and we got to go inside the Capitol on a tour!

I told my mom that whoever painted that painting on the top of the Capitol dome “they must have had a really really tall paint brush!”

In the picture of me with the Declaration of Independence, I am pointing to Arthur Middleton’s signature… we’re related!

Thanksgiving Rewind

I was looking at pictures on our computer with my mom and saw pictures from Thanksgiving. I never wrote a blog about Thanksgiving in Washington, DC! We are rewinding back to Turkey Day.

It was SO much fun, Mimi, Pop AND Aunt Burnie (Shelby), and Uncle Tanner got to come visit us for Thanksgiving. I was really super thankful for that. I loved having everybody here. Eli and me got to sit at our own Thankgiving table, and we got things to color during dinner. The next day we went to the National Harbor and got to see a big Christmas tree light up. We had to wait a long long long time for it to finally turn on and it was SOOOOOOOO cold. We were freezing out there. So we went to eat dinner and got yummy burgers, and when we were inside the firework show started. We got to sit in the warm restaurant and watch them though the window, so it ended up being really cOol.

Then we walked ALL around the monuments and went inside the Capitol the next day. The most fun I had though was playing the birthday present me and Eli and daddy got from Mimi and Pop- a Wii! We ALL played it every night they were here. I LOVE playing the Wii. I am really good at Bowling and golf and driving in my CARS game. The last day they were here we went out to dinner really late. I like going to restaurants. This time it was super fun though. My mom brought our car DVD player and mea nd Eli got to  watch a movie ON the dinner table! Here are pictures from Thanksgiving.

Buildings, Trains & Flowers

Over Christmas we got to visit some neat museums. We have been back 2 times to them because we like them so much! The National Building Muesum is really neat. It has this HUGE room with really super tall columns in it and a little fountain inside in the middle. There is also a really fun play room for kids. I got to go with one of my friends from school, Aliyah. We ran all around the huge room, and had so much fun building stuff and playing the play house. Then we built this big arch out of blocks with a group of people. I ran superfast through it until it fell on me. 🙂

Then we also got to go to the National Botanical Gardens. They had an awesome Train room set up for Christmas. Eli and me LOVED it. We would just stand in there forever and watch all the trains go around and over our heads on bridges, through tunnels and in castles. They had a big Christmas tree too. I liked to pretend I was the toy soldier when I was there too. We even got to take Marmee, Doge and Uncle Matt to see it. This really made Eli love trains even more!

SNOW!

One reason I haven’t been able to blog lately is because there is just so much to do! We had a really coOl snow storm come to Washington DC last month and the snow stayed on the ground for weeks, so we were really busy playing outside building snowmen, sledding, and throwing snow balls. Then it was Eli’s 2nd birthday, My 4th birthday, Daddy’s 29th birthday (he’s OLD!), and then Jesus’ birthday (He’s 2009, that’s REALLY old!)!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the snow! I asked my mom if it could snow EVERY DAY. She just laughed at me. She likes it too, but she didn’t like that our car was stuck in snow and ice for over a week. It’s really cold, but yummy to eat and fun to play in. We took all our beach and pool toys outside to play in it (because that’s what my mom says Floridians do)! Here are some pictures!

Adam & Eve

Me and Eli are reading through the Bible in one year like my mom and dad are trying to. We did it last year, so it’s time to do it again. I think I am starting to understand it more. My favorite stories are the “Jesus Tired” one where Jesus falls asleep on the boat and the disciples wake him up because they are scared of the storm. All Jesus says is “Be Still” and the wind and waves obey him! (I have memorized that one!). I also really like the Jonah one because the fish spits him out, and I like the one where Peter cuts off the guards ear when they are arresting Jesus.

Tonight we read about Adam and Eve in the garden and the sneaky snake tricks them into disobeying God. I don’t like that sneaky snake. He shouldn’t tell them to disobey God.

I told my  mom and dad tonight though that I am most sad that they have to wear clothes now! If they didn’t disobey God we could all not have to wear clothes. That would be funny.

More Bible insights on their way…
